Meet James
Since joining Compass in January, James has made quite an impression. With his quick humor, kind personality, and natural warmth, he quickly became a favorite among staff and other Compass clients.
His new staff have loved getting to know him and supporting him as he works toward his goals. James brings joy into the spaces he enters, and his personality makes it easy for people to connect with him.
A Friend to Everyone
One thing people quickly learn about James is that he is incredibly social. Whether he is sharing a laugh, delivering gifts to friends, or checking in on someone’s day, James loves being around people.
When a new roommate joined his year, James welcomed him with open arms. The two quickly became fast friends, and their friendship has been such a sweet part of James’s story.
His connections also reach far beyond his home. James is active in his church and has built a wide network of friends throughout the community. Those friendships continue to grow as James does.
A Dream That Kept Him Going
This fall, James reached a personal milestone that showed not only his determination, but also the power of community support.
For many months, James had been dreaming of purchasing a new mobility scooter. To him, it was more than just a scooter. It meant more freedom, more independence, and the ability to explore his favorite places with greater ease.
Instead of giving up when the goal felt far away, James got to work. He began saving money by collecting and recycling bottles and cans. Little by little, his savings grew.
Community Made the Dream Sweeter
James’s hard work inspired the people around him. Several local businesses partnered with him and began setting aside their recycling so he could add to his growing fund.
Month by month and bag by bag, James stayed committed. His dedication never wavered, and neither did the encouragement from his friends, neighbors, and supporters.
Finally, in early November, James reached his goal and proudly purchased his brand-new scooter.
More Than a Purchase
The smile on James’s face said it all. This was more than a purchase. It was a proud achievement earned through perseverance, teamwork, and community spirit.
Today, James can often be found out and about, cruising with confidence and spreading joy wherever he goes.
We are so proud of all he has accomplished in such a short time, and we cannot wait to see what goals he reaches next. Keep on rolling, James!
