If you have ever walked into the Willits Grocery Outlet, there is a good chance you have already met Ernesto.
He is nearly impossible to miss. With his warm smile, friendly humor, and joyful presence, Ernesto has become much more than a shopper or customer. After almost a decade of greeting people, joking with families, and starring in local commercials, he has become part of the heart of the store.
In fact, Grocery Outlet proudly uses a cartoon version of his face as their profile picture, a small but meaningful tribute to the energy he brings every single day.
A Smile Everyone Knows
What makes Ernesto so unforgettable is his signature “carding system,” a playful way he interacts with the community around him.
If someone is doing something silly or needs to step up their manners, they might receive one of his joking but serious red cards. If they make him laugh or do something kind, he may flash a green card with pride. And somewhere in the middle? That is a yellow card moment.
His humor has become a Willits tradition, and the community loves him for it.
