What is your favorite memory of working at compass? When I started working for Compass I was happy with a few hours per week working in ILS with clients who wanted to achieve goals and dreams. My first client was a woman who had recently moved out of a residential facility and into her own apartment (even though others told her it was a mistake). With her strong determination and a passion for success, she began identifying goals and dreams like having her own business, joining Weight Watchers and getting involved in her community. Before my client passed from this life, she met and superseded her goals while loving the life she created. I will never forget the joy and inspiration she was to all those around her including myself. Partnering with others to make a difference in people’s lives is what I was born to do. Shortly after my client’s graduation, I was promoted to ILS Manager. I never thought I would have a career that gives so much life and power to those I work with. Who would have thought that a few hours of ILS would evolve into full time management and even Employee of the Year? Truly nothing is impossible for clients, staff or those we work with when you give your heart to what you love the most.
What is your favorite value and why? Freedom is one of my favorite values because when it is embraced, it becomes an avenue or a platform for others to feel empowered and fulfilled. A good example of how this can occur is when we feel accepted for who we are and encouraged to enjoy life by experiencing our hopes and dreams. I am probably partial to freedom because I have experienced it first hand and understand how powerful it can be. Realizing my own destiny has enabled me to help others reach theirs. Nothing is more fulfilling for me than when I see clients and staff unlock their potential and live life out loud in the fullest way possible. Now that’s freedom.
