Agenda

You can find the full agenda here.  We have also put together an extensive session guide for leaders. Please read through this ahead of time and familiarize yourself with the directions so you feel confident when leading the sessions.  Your retreat captain will assign which sessions you will be leading.

The flow of each day will be similar with morning and afternoon sessions (large group activities plus break-out activities for smaller groups) followed by free time in the afternoon. After dinner, there will be 1-2 options for the group.  It will be up to the retreat leaders to decide what they’d like to do during this time.

There will be a leaders binder available at the retreat that includes the extensive session guide and activity worksheets.

Program Overview

In this video, Melanie gives an overview of the entire retreat program.  She touches on some of the key activities and answers any questions leaders had in the session.  If you have any specific questions about the program, you can reach out to manderson@optionsinsls.com.

Memories

Someone will be taking the group picture on the first day.  Please feel free to take pictures and email or text them to Alyssa Rosa – arosa@compasscares.com, 530.782-2902.  Encourage staff and clients to take pictures as well.  We’d like to collect as many as we can!

Gifts of the Head, Heart, and Hand

CFs and ILSMs: We need you to fill out a “Gifts of the Head, Heart, Hand” form for each of your clients and staff that are going on retreat. This will be used during a retreat activity to encourage the individual in his/her strengths and gifts. An example is included below as well as the link to the form.

Please fill out a separate form for each client or staff on your caseload that is attending a retreat. Due date for August retreats is August 15th. Click here to complete.

GIFTS OF THE HEAD, HEART, HAND (Example)

Client’s first/last name: David (last name left out for this example)

GIFTS OF THE HEAD:
(What special knowledge, expertise, and life experiences do they have that can be shared with others?)

David’s love for architecture and design has lead him to his work with American River college. David travels to public restrooms and takes 3D pictures of their designs ensuring their accessibility.

GIFTS OF THE HEART:
(What things are really important to them and they deeply care about and would be happy to share with others?)

David has an amazing knack for recognizing artists and songs of the 80’s. His love for music brings many a smile to friends and family that take the time to enjoy it and sing with him.

GIFTS OF THE HAND:
(What practical skills do they bring with them that they are good at, proud of and they may wish to share with others?)

David is able to draw accurate illustrations of buildings, especially Victorian houses. He grew up in San Francisco and loves the Painted Ladies houses.

WHAT DO OTHERS LIKE AND ADMIRE ABOUT ME:
(What do you others like and admire about them?)

People love David’s sense of humor the best. He is very quiet and observant, and will often make eye contact with others to see if they caught on to whatever is tickling him. David’s laugh is the best!
