Michael is an amazing and courageous soul. Three years ago he actually was featured in our newsletter as one of the most memorable articles his ILS Manager, Cassandra, has ever written.
It wasn’t an article about some drastic dream that was accomplished, or some amazing trip that he went on. Instead he was featured for simply answering his door.
Michael’s beginning chapter in ILS was a rather blank one because it took one year for him to finally trust staff enough to answer his door. However, once that trust was built Michael’s life blossomed.
Michael has had a great amount of hurdles in his life the past few years. From a separation of his wife of over a decade, to moving out of state away from all of his friends and family, to finally gaining the courage to say “enough is enough.” The Michael that stands before you today is one who fought to become him. He is a recently divorced, single dad who loves his son so much that he decided to build the life of which he has always dreamed. Michael was daring enough to move back to the Siskiyou area to build a solid foundation for his son and him.
Michael is the ultimate success story because he stood up against adversity, and was bold enough to never give up. Michael has established a home of his own, fought for custody of his son, and just so happens to be one of the greatest friendships many other Compass clients have. On any given day you will find two to three other clients at Michael’s house asking for advice, venting, and just being in his presence so they can have some much needed positivity in their lives. The man who once chose not to answer his door is now the star of our Friday Night Hoops series, one of the greatest dad’s around, and a truly loving friend who sees others where he once was and inspires them to dream.
