Regional Manager (South Bay Region)
I have come to Compass after years of working with People With Developmental Disabilities in many different areas of their lives. I have been a Special Education Teacher in elementary school, middle school, high school and in the Post Senior Programs. I have enjoyed my many years of teaching, guiding and leading people in ways to improve and enhance their lives. My experience as a teacher has shown me that each person with a disability can learn and grow as a person and be able to integrate into society and in their community. As a teacher you learn to grow and experience each students drive, as they seek their independence.
I have also worked with the adult population in the residential, vocational and employment realm of their lives. I am glad to be a support and guide for each person as they seek to become a part of their community and integrate into society. Not only for the person with DD, I also like watching people in the communities and society become educated to how wonderful, the people with disabilities are.
I began my education on a Football Scholarship at the University of Missouri-Columbia studying in Education (Counseling & Psychology). My college experience opened my life up to the many opportunities that I could have never dreamed of while growing up in the ghetto city of East St. Louis, Illinois. I came from a single parent home with a mother who did all that she could to assure that I would be able to have a chance at becoming a well-rounded successful man.
I truly believe that Compass has become my “Calling” in life. Compass and I, were brought together in a right place right time type of connection. I am so very glad to have connected with Compass so that I can have the opportunity to use my growth, experience and skills in supporting and working with people with disabilities of all ages. I also look forward to working with the staff and other support Team members to continue the growth, independence and enhancement of our SLS and ILS clients. As a Regional Manager, I strive to build a staff that have a passion for helping others, knowledgeable in how to do it and persistence in completing the mission.
I enjoy experiencing all that life has to offer. I love going on drives up and down the coast, to experience and see all of the wonder that is in the bay area (mountains, coastlines, great weather and the diversity of people and cultures). I also enjoy seeing all of the many live sporting events in the bay area, especially our World Champion Golden State Warriors!
I also enjoy being involved in sporting activities, whether it be working out at the gym or refereeing High School basketball throughout Northern California and beyond.
