ILS Manager, East Bay
I joined the Compass Team in December of 2016 as a Case Facilitator in the Concord office located in the East Bay. I absolutely love being a Case Facilitator; I have an awesome caseload of clients and a great team. In July 2017 the position for ILS Manager became available and I decided to apply!
I began my journey in this field in 1995, right out of high school I worked for a group home that housed 6 adolescents ranging in age from 8-17 years old. It was very challenging and I learned the system very quickly.
I attended Contra Costa College studying Criminal Law and after a year and half I decided that wasn’t the field for me. I continued working with youth, and was hired on at Alta Bates Hospital in Berkeley Ca working on Thunder Road Recovery unit with Adolescents battling addiction. After a couple years I went on to work as a director for Fred Finch Youth Center in Oakland Ca. I continued working with Adolescents for many years. I worked on the psych unit of Juvenile hall and other locked down facilities throughout the East bay and San Mateo County.
In 2005 I was presented with the opportunity to work with an ILS program serving intellectual disabled adults as an ILS Counselor. This was an amazing experience; I traveled with one of my clients to Alaska, Canada and many other places. It was such a great experience seeing someone enjoy life and being able to be a part of her Journey. Working with in this field, with this population has definitely been a blessing, and I know I am exactly where I was intended to be. In addition I am a wife and a mother to 3 beautiful children, two whom have followed in my footsteps and have started their journey in this filed as well.
